George Rickey originally trained as a painter but he later turned to create kinetic sculpture, showing his first pieces in New York in 1951. Rickey only made a few pieces of jewellery, primarily earrings and hair combs for his wife Edie, or very close friends. These he often mounted as if they were one of his table sculptures with kinetic geometric shapes.
